Physiotherapy for Foot and Ankle Pain
Most ankle sprains are mild and recover within a few weeks, but severe sprains can take up to three months. Rehabilitation gets you back to sport and prevents re-injury by building strength and balance specific to your activity.
What does a consultation involve?
- A detailed history of your problem, activities and general health
- A physical assessment, for which you may need to remove some outer clothing (a chaperone is available on request)
- A tailored management plan for your condition
- Referral for further investigations or specialist assessment if needed, liaising with your GP where required
Lateral ligament sprains
The most common ankle injury: rolling the ankle inwards on uneven ground or an awkward landing, damaging the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, with pain, swelling or bruising around the lateral malleolus.
